Do you have a wise friend that’s always inspiring you with new things? With her new approaches to living an amazing life? And lifting you up, inspiring you to be your best?
Of course you do. She’s your bestie. Your go to when you’re in a pinch.
So why not have a list of your “bestie” bloggers? You know, to help you out when you need some helpful insights into simplicity and minimalism. After all, you’re not an island. And if you’re anything like me, you probably research the heck out of everything, write lots of lists, and are a planner. I’m your typical type A planner. But enough about me…
I’m super excited to share these blogs with you. Many of them have helped me get to where I am today with living a simpler life and decluttering my life. Anyone who shares a passion for taking the crazy busy chaos out of life and inspiring others to live with less, gets an A+ in my books.
Ready for some inspiration? Let’s do this!
11 BLOGS TO INSPIRE A LIFE OF SIMPLICITY AND MINIMALISM
Updated for 2018 with a few new minimalist blog discoveries!
1. ZEN HABITS.
If there was a first blog on simple living that I read, it was Leo’s. I originally stumbled across his blog when blogging solely about debt. “Zen Habits is about finding simplicity and mindfulness in the daily chaos of our lives. It’s about clearing the clutter so we can focus on what’s important, create something amazing, find happiness.”

Another blog that I was an early adopter of whilst on my debt repayment journey. If it has to do with minimalism, Joshua and Ryan have done it all. Their motto is slightly different from the typical live with less messaging you come across. Instead, they focus on living with more of what you want in life – “more time, more passion, more experiences, more growth, more contribution, more contentment.”
P.S. A cute thing you’ll notice? Even their Twitter handles and URL’s are minimalist. ?

This one’s a new discovery for me. I happened across Miss Minimalist while shopping for craft supplies in Michael’s. Her book The Joy Of Less was on their bookshelf and I snapped a photo to later find that there’s a whole blog behind the book! Miss Minimalist is Francine Jay and she believes minimalism is “about eliminating the distractions that keep us from fully appreciating life.”

Yet another new discovery for me and can I say, a fun one? I love the quirky blog name. Well, and of course, I’m a cat owner…so…yep. She created the site to share her story of simplifying a life of living beyond your means. Tammy and her husband have “given away 90% of our belongings, paid our debt, lived in a tiny house on wheels, and changed our careers.”

Jessica captured my attention from her beautifully curated and minimal Instagram feed and her honest account of her minimalism journey. Look to Jessica for an honest account of minimalism, capsule wardrobe advice, and a moody, monochromatic Instagram feed. Referred to as “the queen of minimalism”, she owns a 32 piece capsule wardrobe and owns 80% less stuff than two years ago.

I’m always super excited when I find another minimalism blogger in my age group. For the longest time, I thought minimalism was a millennial only thing. So of course I was super excited to find Amanda’s blog The Online Stylist. From the UK, Amanda blogs about minimalist fashion and “elevating the everyday.” Check out the Elevate The Everyday section of her blog. Like me, she has a love for cashmere, beautiful things, and attainable luxury.

Upon discovering Jennifer’s blog, I quickly realized we had similar life paths. In her words (and my thoughts), “the wrong marriage, the wrong career, the mortgage, the loans, the very big closet; a life that looked good on the outside but felt wrong on the inside.” Like me, she’s also a reformed shopaholic turned minimalist. She’s a kindred spirit and probably why I love her blog and views on simple living so much.

What I’ve discovered with all these blogs is that there’s a growing community of inspired individuals who want to flip the norm and live unconventionally. Somewhere along the line, they’ve realized that what they’ve been taught or shown throughout life as the “traditional life progression” isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. There’s no joy or happiness in chasing an incorrect philosophy of success. Life should be joyful. It shouldn’t be stressful.
